Marion Community CU has changed our name to Pillar Credit Union

This year we’re celebrating Marion Community Credit Union’s (MCCU’s) 60​ ​years of service in Marion, Ohio. We’re also celebrating your membership and support of the organization. You are the pillars; the foundation blocks for our growth and expansion. Thank you for your business and thank you for spreading a good word about us to your friends and family.

My name is Adam Willauer, Chairman of the Board of Directors. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to share with you some of the exciting plans we have for 2020:

  • We’re near completion of the expansion project at Barks Road and individuals are occupying the new space. The expansion provides more privacy for the members and expanded work space for the staff.
  • We’re staying true to our mission and continue to be good stewards of MCCU. We are very proud of where we are after 60 years; but, more importantly focused on the future.
  • We’re increasing our digital footprint to make it more convenient to members.
  • We’re expanding and fine tuning products and services for the benefit and convenience of members.
  • We’re exploring ways to serve members and potential members in the surrounding counties.
  • We’re investing in employees by way of training opportunities for movement within the organization as MCCU grows.

All of the above and more won’t happen without some impactful action steps by the Board of Directors.

The geographical diversity that we have created has enabled our growth so far. The Board of Directors and senior leadership at MCCU, after a thorough and thoughtful process, have taken the next step to rename MCCU as PILLAR CREDIT UNION to reflect the diverse members we’re serving from many areas.

PILLAR is both a tribute to you (the members who have supported the growth) and a signal of our strength and stability for many years to come.

We will stay true to our mission as always: ​We strive to strengthen the financial fitness of our members.

The staff members are excited about the positive changes taking place and are proud to be part of a growing, MarionMade organization.

Effective Monday, May 4, 2020, PILLAR CREDIT UNION is in operation with the same experienced individuals taking care of your financial needs.

Your deposits will continue to be federally insured by NCUA secured by the full faith and credit of the United States Government.

Why is Marion Community Credit Union changing names?

In 1960, we opened our doors to serve employees and families of Erie Lackawanna Railroad Company. Since then, we’ve added dozens of other employer groups and acquired a community charter that allowed us to serve anyone in Marion County. Today, 60 years after our founding, Marion Community Credit Union serves six total counties: Marion, Morrow, Crawford, Wyandot, Richland, and Hancock Counties. Because of recent expansion into these additional areas, we need a bold, one-word name that doesn’t limit us to one geographic region.

How will this affect my membership status?

The name change will have no impact on member status.

Will my Marion Community Credit Union ATM and credit cards still work?

Yes. You can still use your current Marion Community ATM, debit, and credit cards. Some time in the future, your old cards will be replaced with a card that displays the new name and logo.

Can I still use Marion Community Credit Union checks and deposit slips?

Yes. Please continue using your Marion Community Credit Union checks and deposit slips. When you run out of checks or deposit slips, your new ones will display the new name and logo.

Is the management or Board of Directors changing?

No. You'll still see the same friendly folks at all our branches. Same people. Same heart. New name.

Will I have to change automatic drafts and direct deposits?

No. Automatic drafts and direct deposits are routed using the same transit and account numbers as now. These numbers have not changed, so there is no need to update this information.

Is Marion Community Credit Union changing ownership?

No. One of the best things about credit union membership is members like you own the credit union. It will never change ownership!

Will this affect my loans, savings and investments?

The name change will not impact any of your accounts.
