Introducing IDCheck: Making Your Shared Branch Visits Safer and Easier

At Pillar Credit Union, protecting your identity and providing a smooth, secure experience are our top priorities.
That’s why we’re excited to introduce IDCheck — a new tool designed to make your visits to Shared Branch locations safer, faster, and more convenient than ever before.

What Is IDCheck?

IDCheck is an easy-to-use identity verification system that helps protect your account from fraud and identity theft when using Shared Branch services.
It allows you to quickly and securely verify your identity — either before you visit or while you’re at the branch — adding an extra layer of protection for your accounts.

By completing a simple verification process, you help us ensure that your financial information stays secure, making your in-branch experience quicker and easier.

How IDCheck Works

The process is designed to be fast, safe, and hassle-free:

  1. Start Verification
Scan the QR code at your branch or visit verify—coop on your device.

  2. Enter Basic Information
Provide your name, your home credit union’s information, your account number, and the last four digits of your Social Security Number.

  3. Capture Your ID and Selfie
Take a photo of your government-issued ID (both the front and back) and a quick selfie.
(The selfie adds a powerful layer of security, verifying your photo matches your ID.)

  4. Get Your Access Code
Once verified, you’ll receive a one-time secure code. Show this code to the teller when you visit the branch to complete your transaction quickly and securely.

The entire process only takes a few minutes, and you can do it from the comfort of your own home!

Why IDCheck Matters

In today’s digital world, account takeover fraud is on the rise, and bad actors are becoming more sophisticated.
IDCheck is a modern solution that protects you and your financial assets.

By verifying your identity ahead of time, you enjoy:

Greater protection against account takeover and identity theft

Faster service at the branch with less waiting time
Peace of mind knowing your identity and accounts are better protected

Your safety is always worth a few extra seconds — and with IDCheck, it’s simpler than ever.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • Q: Do I have to use IDCheck?

    • A: IDCheck will be used for specific situations, often required when using an out-of-state ID at a shared branch, or based on the transaction type or branch policy, to ensure maximum security. Tellers will guide you if it's needed for your transaction.

  • Q: Why do I need to take a selfie?

    • A: The selfie is compared securely against the photo on your government-issued ID. This biometric check is a powerful tool to prevent someone else from using a lost or stolen ID.

  • Q: Is this process secure? Is my data safe?

    • A: Yes. The IDCheck system uses secure encryption and technology (provided via Socure, a trusted identity verification partner) to protect your information during the verification process.

  • Q: Do I need to do this every single time I visit a shared branch?

    • A: You will need to generate a new one-time access code each time IDCheck verification is required for your transaction. However, completing the process should become quicker after your first time. Doing it before you get in line saves time!

  • Q: What if I don't have a smartphone or have trouble with the process?

    • A: Don't worry! Please let the teller know. They are trained to assist members who may not have a smartphone or who encounter difficulties with the steps.

  • Q: Does this replace showing my ID?

    • A: Think of it as an enhancement to the identification process. You will still need your physical, valid government-issued photo ID with you. IDCheck verifies the ID's authenticity and matches you to it.

  • Q: Who requires this? My credit union or the shared branch?

    • A: IDCheck is a security standard being adopted across the participating Shared Branch network, supported by Velera and [Your Credit Union Name], to protect all members who use the service.
